Science imitates me

Well, perhaps that’s overstating it a bit, but…

I worked as a funds manager for CitiAmerica, and being stationed here gave me an eight-and-a-half minute head start over Earth-based funds managers when it came to acting on news brought in from other star systems through the interstellar portal at the heart of the sun.

From what I understood, the energy requirements for opening a portal were so staggeringly high that it could only be done inside a star.

That’s from my novelette “That Leviathan, Whom Thou Hast Made,” published in Analog back in September 2010.

Some stars may contain wormholes, throat-like tunnels connecting distant points in spacetime, a team of physicists proposes.

That’s the first sentence of a new story on Discovery.com about an physics article published in February, titled “A Star Harbouring a Wormhole at its Center.” (Please note that I’m not really implying the author of the paper, Dr. Vladimir Folomeev, got the idea from me.)

Thanks to my friend Jeff Young for bringing this to my attention.
