Hailing frequencies open...
This picture of me with Nichell Nichols was taken at a Slanted Fedora convention in Buffalo, New York, in 1998. At the same dinner "Dinner With the Stars" event where I met James Doohan. She autographed the photo a few months later in at a con in Tucson, Arizona.
Nichelle has an interesting story about why she didn't quit Star Trek after the first season as she had thought about doing. Apparently she met Martin Luther King, and when he heard she was thinking of leaving the show, he asked her not to because she was an important role model for black women.
